After 10 months of closure, Lovers Pizzeria is poised to return in a new space.

Via its Instagram account, the restaurant said it will reopen this month at 105 E. Ashby Place in the Monte Vista neighborhood, again offering up its New York-style pies.

Lovers Pizzeria’s former South Side location, 1107 Roosevelt Ave., was known for its walk-up window, a little touch that mimics the New York experience of grabbing a slice before hopping on the subway.

The restaurant announced its sudden closure in late March 2024, stating that it would have to be out of its building by April 1 for reasons over which it had no control.

“The good news is that we were already in the process of relocating,” the Instagram announcement read. The new space is larger, “meaning more pizzas” the business promised. Its new digs also will include a bar, according to the post. 

Lovers Pizzeria posted its most recent update on the move two weeks ago, sharing a mockup illustration of its new space and promising a January opening date.

“We’ve missed you San Antonio,” the message added.
