On Thursday, June 7, Pizza Italia will be hosting an evening with Christine Celis of Austin’s Celis Brewery. Celis will be on site from 6 to 9 p.m. participating in a Facebook Live Q&A video in which she’ll talk about craft beer and her experiences in the community. Restaurant guests will receive a complimentary souvenir glass with the purchase of any pint. Be sure to get there early, these glasses are first come, first serve.
Celis Brewery is known for serving witbiers, a now iconic Belgian-style ale recognized by its citrusy, cloudy and pale qualities.
“Father of Witbier” and Belgian expat Pierre Celis founded Austin’s famous first brewery in 1992, expanding the Texan penchant from Lone Star and Shiner with his own unique strand of yeast. Last year, Christine continued her father’s vision by reopening the establishment after its closure in 2000. Today she is one of the few women working in the local industry.
