Acadiana Cafe, the longtime Cajun-food institution that closed in August, is back — and just in time for Fat Tuesday.
Previously located in West San Antonio, the four-decade-old restaurant has been reimagined as part of a hotel in La Coste, a small town near Castroville, according to details shared online. Its new digs are at The La Coste City Hotel, 11280 Castro Ave.
The hotel confirmed rumors of Acadiana’s reopening in a Feb. 6 Instagram post.
The Cajun eatery had been operating a food truck at the hotel since November, according to a Facebook post from the business last fall.
The announcement of the initial popup arrangement was captioned “Hallelujah! Laissez les bons temps rouler!” Mardi Gras-goers will recognize the phrase and its English translation: “Let the good times roll!”
Since then, Acadiana has developed into a more permanent and entrenched fixture at the hotel.
The management at Acadiana, previously located at 1289 SW Loop 410, revealed last July that it sold its property to Hacienda Vallarta Mexican Buffet, which planned to open at the site.
Luckily, San Antonio foodies don’t have far to drive to satisfy their jambalaya jones.
“Hope you haven’t forgotten about us. (Or our catfish!)” the eatery wrote last Sunday on Facebook. “Come grab some lunch or dinner at our new location at The La Coste City Hotel! See you soon.”
