Houston-based dining group Adair Concepts will continue its Broadway takeover this fall with the launch of its first San Antonio Los Tios Mexican Restaurant, set to debut inside the former La Madeleine space at 4820 Broadway, officials said Wednesday.
The restaurant group entered the Alamo City in February with the opening of a location of its Adair Kitchen chain in the shuttered Jim’s diner at 4108 Broadway. Around the same time, state filings revealed the owners also planned to turn the closed La Madeleine into a Los Tios, which operates six locations in Houston and one in Fredericksburg.
A Texas Highways report credits Los Tios, founded in 1970, with introducing the frozen margarita to Houston. Adair Concepts purchased the venerable Tex-Mex chain in 2000.
Alice Adair, wife of Adair Concepts president Nick Adair, grew up in the Alamo Heights neighborhood near where the chain will make its SA debut, according to details released Wednesday.
“Bringing Los Tios to Alamo Heights isn’t about parachuting into San Antonio because it’s a good market. It’s coming back to where I grew up, and giving love back to a place that shaped who I am,” she said in a statement.
Los Tios hasn’t released a menu for its San Antonio location, but if its Fredericksburg store is any indication, its highlights are likely to include the chain’s signature puffy queso along with tostadas, tacos, fajitas and other Tex-Mex standbys. In addition to the expected margaritas, the restaurants also offer a selection of beer and wine.
