For the first time in 10 years, a new hospitality property is slated to open at Pearl — and it’s from Oxbow Development Group, the same organization behind the complex’s revered Hotel Emma.
Dubbed Perlen House, the new boutique hotel will be located at 1210 E. Elmira St., across the river from Hotel Emma, the only other hotel at the complex. In a statement, Oxbow officials describe the project as a “design-forward, residential-inspired riverside retreat along the Museum Reach of the San Antonio River Walk.”
Perlen will offer all-suite accommodations, unlike typical hotels, which offer a mix of standard rooms and suites. Hotel Emma, for example, offers both.
Appropriately, the name “Perlen” is derived from the German word for pearl.
The property’s food and beverage offerings will include Bar Helene, a gathering space for cocktails and light bites, and the Nook — a coffeehouse with pastries by day and a wine bar by night. The Nook also will offer an assortment of local goods.
Perlen House also will include design-focused interiors, a full-service lobby bar, a pool deck and 7,700 square feet of meeting and event space, including indoor-outdoor gathering areas.
News of the forthcoming hotel property follows a slew of announcements about new Pearl-area dining destinations.
Those include Rosso, a steakhouse from Mixtli’s founding co-chef Rico Torres; LoverBoy House Eats from the team behind Box Street Social; and an as-yet-unnamed concept from award-winning chef Aaron Bludorn that will take over the space that once housed Carriqui.
