San Antonio International Airport continues to reshape its food-and-beverage lineup. And while recent additions have largely spotlighted local operators, a nationally recognized chain is preparing to make its debut.
Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen will open a new location inside the airport later this year, officials with the transportation facility confirmed. The outpost will be located in Terminal B at 9800 Airport Blvd.
The New Orleans-born fried chicken chain is known for bone-in chicken, chicken sandwiches, biscuits and Cajun-inspired sides. The company operates nearly 30 San Antonio-area stores, according to its website.
Construction on the Terminal B Popeye’s is expected to wrap up in June, though neither the company nor the airport has revealed a grand opening date.
The addition comes amid a broader overhaul of the airport’s dining options, part of a multi-year effort to modernize terminals and expand concessions ahead of increased passenger traffic.
In recent years, SAT has leaned heavily into showcasing San Antonio’s culinary identity by welcoming locally owned restaurants and bars to open scaled-down airport locations. SA eateries with outposts at the airport include Merit Coffee, the Smoke Shack, La Gloria, Tre Pizzeria and more.
