Local activist Tori Santos is no stranger to taking a stand. Santos— a proud LGBTQ ally and a 2019 nominee for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Woman of the Year — is using her voice to raise funds, awareness and celebrate local women during the F$#K CANCER luau at Still Golden on Saturday, May 18.
Inspired by strong women like Santos’ mother, a two-time cancer survivor, the event will offer $8 tiki-inspired craft cocktails, bites and live music, with all proceeds to benefit LLS. The festivities will take place from noon to 6 p.m. at Still Golden.
Eats include a luau-style pig roast and vegan sliders prepared by a lineup of all-female chefs — including Holley Dominguez, Monica De La O, Jennifer Cooley, Juliet Burley and Caitlin Reganwill — and women-led musical performances from Cósmicaa, DJ Anita Boogie and Alyson Alonzo.
“I [couldn’t] run for something called ‘Woman of the Year’ and not support my fellow women,” Santos said.
Santos has raised an estimated $25,000 so far, but hopes the luau proceeds will help her reach the $50,000 fundraising mark this weekend. To learn more about the event, click here.
