This time, the self-described “dad bar” located near the Pearl will become Krampus Cove for the holiday season, celebrating the horned, folkloric Christmas demon who punishes bad children, organizers said.
Starting Dec. 6, the day after many in Europe celebrate Krampusnacht, Three Star Bar will introduce its latest pop-up concept and celebrate the yuletide tormentor until Dec. 25.
Krampus Cove is organized by the creators of Black Lagoon. Much like that Halloween pop-up, Krampus Cove will feature a variety of themed drinks. A gin cocktail with cranberry rosemary syrup is dubbed Better Watch Out, while another is called Jingle Hell and a hot rum punch goes by the name Red-Rum-Pum-Pum-Pum.
But the drink menu doesn’t end there.
The Red Snow has a particularly interesting flavor profile, featuring vodka, coconut-peppermint syrup, Lustau Amontillado Sherry, lemon juice and absinthe, according to organizers. There’s also a milky Ancho Chili Mezcal coffee and chocolate cocktail called the Santa Slay.
The physical transformation of Three Star Bar, 521 E. Grayson St., will include black Christmas trees decorated with severed doll heads, body parts, skulls and skeletons. Throughout the month, the nightspot also will play host to live entertainment, including burlesque performances and appearances by Krampus himself.
This is New Orleans-based Black Lagoon’s third year bringing Krampus Cove to bars around the country. However, this season marks the pop-up’s first time in the Alamo City.
With San Antonio’s inaugural Krampus Parade the day before, it seems San Antonio has really caught Krampus fever.
Terrible news for bad children.
