One of rock’s biggest acts will steamroll into San Antonio next summer as part of a tour that’s taken it to 26 countries since April 2023.
Metallica will bring its M72 World Tour to the Alamodome on Saturday, May 22, 2027, with nu-metal act Limp Bizkit and Swedish melodic death metal group Avatar in the opening slots, organizers said Wednesday.
Fan club presale tickets become available at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, while local presales begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24. General ticket sales get underway at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25. Citi cardholders and Verizon customers are among those who may be eligible for presale deals.
More information on enhanced experiences, travel packages and other ticket upgrades is available via the band’s tour website.
Metallica undertook its M72 stadium tour to promote its most recent album, 2023’s 72 Seasons. Reviews have largely been positive for the shows, which draw from material across the quartet’s five-decade career. The Austin Chronicle said it was “impossible to leave unsatisfied” after the band’s back-to-back North Texas dates, while the Detroit News referred to its Motor City show as “a stone-cold stunner.”
The only other Texas date on this leg of the Bay Area-based band’s tour is a Tuesday, May 18, show at El Paso’s Sun Bowl Stadium.
