The “refried dream” of Stephanie Bergara, Bidi Bidi Banda is a tribute band devoted to the late Queen of Tejano, Selena Quintanilla. Boasting members of Austin’s premier Latin bands, the group rolls through the classic hits like a ’55 Bel Air down Culebra. Oh, and their keyboardist has like 6 levels of keyboards, so shit can get laser-y and beach-breezy.
Rounding out the bill and holding down DJ duties (for that booty), will be all-female record crew Chulita Vinyl Club. Who, if you aren’t familiar, tear it up with a mix of punk, Latin soul, riot grrl, doo wop and West Side jams. The show will be held at Paper Tiger on Sunday, January 24 at 1pm, a brunch show, so you’ll have plenty of time to get necio, cumbia with your novia/o, and sleep it off before the ever-replenishing well of happiness that is work on Monday.
