It may not seem so if you’re playing the field right now, but San Antonio isn’t a bad place to be single.
Or so says a new study.
The Alamo City ranked 36th on personal finance site WalletHub’s 180-city list of the best and worst places for singles. The top three were Atlanta, Denver and San Francisco, while Brownsville; Pembroke Pines, Fla.; and Hialeah, Fla., took up the rear.
To come up with its rankings, WalletHub compared cities across 34 indicators, including the share of singles in the population, the number of online dating opportunities and nightlife options per capita.
Also weighing heavily were money factors — namely, how pricey it is to wine, dine and entertain a date. After all, the average cost of a date in the U.S. stands at $102.32, according to the study.
The dollars-and-cents factor is where S.A. stood out from the pack. Apparently, we’re the fourth-least expensive city for restaurant meals.
So take heart singles. Because nothing says “romance” better than treating your date to a $3.99 enchilada plate down at the corner taqueria.
