A third staffer in San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones’ office has left as she approaches just as many months on the job.

Event Service Director Rory Vance resigned Tuesday, the mayor’s office confirmed to the Current.

Vance declined to comment on the reason for his departure.

Before joining Jones’ staff, Vance worked on her mayoral campaign as a community engagement manager. One former campaign staffer who wanted to remain unnamed out of fear of retaliation said they were surprised to hear of Vance’s departure, considering his loyalty to Jones during the campaign.

Jones’ original chief of staff, Jordan Abelson, was the first departure from the mayor’s office, jumping after less than three weeks on the job.

Next, the mayor’s initial communication director, Gary Cooper, was reassigned without explanation after less than a week in the position.

Washington, D.C.-based Frontwood Strategies has since taken communications for Jones’ office via a $10,000-a-month contract.
