Four people were killed and 21 injured Thursday afternoon in San Antonio after a stolen Camaro crashed into a transport bus in an accident that brought traffic on I-35 southbound near Leon Creek to a halt for hours, the Express-News reports.
The stolen sports car slammed into the bus headed from Fort Worth to Mexico as it towed a trailer. The bus then collided with an 18-wheeler, according to the daily. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m.
In a Facebook post, the company operating the bus involved in the crash, Transportes Guerra, encouraged victims’ families to contact its officials for more information.
San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus told reporters at the crash site that the four suspects inside the stolen Camaro fled the scene without rendering aid. One of those fleeing was armed with an AK-style weapon, the chief cautioned.
Emergency medical services transported eight patients to local hospitals with life-threatening conditions, the Express News reports.
