Sure, the title can force a double take, but “I Fund Abortions” is not a stunt to publicly shame providers and incite gun-toting outrage. In fact, it’s a bold feminist tumblr profiling, and uniting, abortion funders across the country. In an opinion piece for Talking Points Memo, Rankin writes, “Abortion in the U.S. is legal, safe, and common, yet safe public spaces to talk openly about the safety and reality of abortion remain elusive.” For reproductive rights activists, the “I Fund Abortions” tumblr is a small, yet significant step, towards reclaiming abortion as a positive, upright word with an ethical and supportive community.
