Bexar County has dropped charges against a San Antonio woman accused of buying ammo for her teenage son, who police alleged was planning a mass shooting at a local elementary school, KSAT reports, citing court records.
Authorities arrested Ashley Pardo, 34, in May 2025 on charges of aiding in the commission of terrorism, public records show. She purchased tactical gear, ammunition and firearm magazines for her then-13-year-old son as he plotted to carry out a shooting at Jeremiah Rhodes Elementary School, according to accusations in arrest documents.
“Following a comprehensive review of all evidence submitted by law enforcement and conducted by several veteran prosecutors, the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office is rejecting the aiding in terrorism case against Ashley Pardo due to insufficient evidence to support the elements of the charge,” the DA’s office said in a statement to KSAT.
The DA’s office continued: “Additionally, prosecutors did not pursue terrorism charges against the juvenile involved in the case, as the evidence did not substantiate that allegation and instead warranted a different charge that could be supported, which was filed with a court. Consequently, Ms. Pardo could not be charged with aiding in terrorism, as those charges would be inherently connected.”
In it’s statement, the DA’s office said its personnel were unable to confirm that the alleged weapon involved in the case was a real firearm, since law enforcement never seized it as evidence and submitted it to the office for analysis.
Pardo also faced a separate, unrelated charge of abandoning or endangering a child with criminal negligence, according to KSAT. The county also dropped that charge due to insufficient evidence, the TV station reports.
