A tentative date has been set for the murder trial of Brad Simpson, who’s suspected of slaying his wife Suzanne Simpson.
Monday was the deadline for discovery in the case, and authorities have still produced no body, MySA reports.
Nonetheless, prosectors produced a number of evidentiary materials during Monday’s hearing, though they said some evidence is still missing from their records, according to a report by the online news organization.
Despite the missing evidence, 437th District Court Judge Joel Perez is moving forward with the trial date, a decision agreed upon by Simpson’s defense attorney Steven Gilmore and prosecutors at the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
The trial is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 13, MySA reports.
Suzanne Simpson, a mother of four children, was last seen the evening of Oct. 6, 2024 after people observed she and her husband having an altercation at the exclusive, members-only Alamo Heights club The Argyle, according to multiple media reports. A neighbor later observed Brad Simpson allegedly assaulting his wife in front of their house, authorities said.
When the couple disappeared from view, the neighbor grabbed a flashlight and went looking for them, at which time he heard screams from the wooded area near their house, which he believed to be Suzanne, according to a timeline laid out by the Express-News. Brad Simpson later departed in his black GMC pickup truck, to return hours later.
Simpson also reportedly loaded a bulky item wrapped in a tarp into the back of his pickup truck and dropped it off somewhere in Hill Country, likely between Boerne and Bandera. Despite numerous searches in the area, this bulky load has never been recovered.
Brad Simpson’s friend and associate James Valle Cotter is also facing felony charges for allegedly hiding an AK-47 for Simpson in a hollowed-out portion of his wall in the days following Suzanne’s disappearance.
