Thousands of protesters filled the streets of downtown San Antonio on Saturday as part of one of the biggest national days of demonstrations so far against the Trump administration.
The loud but peaceful gathering was part of the second massive wave of protests organized by No Kings, a loose network of progressive groups, to decry the unpopular president’s policies, including his draconian immigration crackdown.
More than 2,700 such rallies took place around the country — or hundreds more than took during the previous “No Kings” protests in June, when roughly 5 million people took to the streets, according to multiple media reports.
San Antonio’s rally began in Travis Park, where progressive Democratic lawmakers including U.S. Reps. Joaquin Castro and Greg Casar along with state Sen. Roland Gutierrez addressed the crowd.
Protesters shouted anti-Trump slogans while carrying signs reading “No Kings. No Lies. No Fear,” “Ditch the dictator” and “I should be able to teach without being gunned down” as they marched through downtown streets.
