If the Count of Monte Cristo were living in modern-day San Antonio, we could see him living here.

A seven-bedroom, 10-bath mansion recently hit the market in the Dominion, and its Mediterranean ambiance and sprawling 9,700-square-foot floor plan certainly seem fit for royalty. As does its nearly $3.5 million price tag.

The mansion’s magnificence is first visible from the curb, as one approaches the massive structure from its circular driveway. One can easily imagine gowned guests dripping in diamonds entering through its lantern-lit portico before a valet whisks away their Bentley.

Once inside, guests are greeted with even more grandeur at the sight of the grandest of grand staircases. Perhaps the Count is even waiting for them on the stairs to make the most impressive first impression — and in a double-breasted velvet suit with a cocktail in one hand, no less.

However, the most gorgeous view of all is the interior courtyard, which features a swimming pool fed by a waterfall feature, set against the arches of a wraparound double-decker veranda.

The outdoor corridor isn’t just the kind of space perfect for a self-made Count to pace and strategize his next move for insinuating himself into high society. It also features an outdoor kitchen — one of the most majestic we’ve ever seen.

We’re talking a marble topped kitchen island, two ranges, two refrigerators and more cabinet space than many homes have for their inside kitchen.

And if the weather permits, guests can dine al fresco on a long outdoor dining table surrounded by grapevined columns in its charmingly Mediterranean pergola, where views of the opulent abode are just as mouth-watering as the heuer d’oeuvres.

The home also has a theater room, elaborate tray ceilings, and — frankly — too many chandeliers to count. Erm, no pun intended.
