The San Antonio Spurs will hold tryouts this weekend for a new “super fan” section at Frost Bank Center in a bid to recreate the raucous atmosphere at European soccer stadiums, star player Victor Wembanyama said in a Tuesday social media video.
Tryouts will begin at 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Frost Bank Center and feature multiple rounds, much like a game show. Those selected during the hours-long process will receive season tickets in the designated area plus free parking for $999. They’ll also receive a 15% discount at the team’s pro-shop.
There’s a caveat, though.
To qualify, those picked for the new section must commit to attending at least 75% of all home games for the 2025-26 season.
In the clip, Wembanyama said those inaugurated as super fans also will help pick a name for the group and design its logo in addition to attending regular practices.
“It’s been an idea, and now it’s a project,” the 7-foot-4 center said. “I’m very excited for it to be more than just something in my head; something real.”
As conceived, the Spurs’ new section appears similar to “The Wall” at the Los Angeles Clippers’ new arena, which positions a collection of super fans directly behind the basket.
Those who think they have enough Spurs passion to make the cut can RSVP for Sunday’s tryouts on the team website.
