How low is U.S. Sen. John Cornyn willing to grovel?

By the looks of a photo he recently tweeted out, the answer is “low enough to end up with a mouthful of gravel.”

On Thursday, Cornyn — a Texas Republican with a long history of on-again-off-again fealty to Donald Trump — shared out an obviously staged snapshot of himself engrossed in the president’s 1987 book The Art of the Deal.

“Recommended,” the senator added. You know, just in case the pic by itself didn’t sufficiently broadcast his sycophancy.

Cornyn’s online detractors wasted no time in pouncing on the obsequious display.

Former Republican U.S. Rep. Adam Kingzniger — who lost his seat in 2023 over his efforts to hold Trump accountable — retweeted Cornyn’s image, adding “Imagine having to post this. Good lord.”

Plenty of non-politicos joined Kinzinger in lambasting Cornyn for his lack of spine. Meanwhile, others called out Trump, who’s struggling to secure the quick Ukraine ceasefire promised on the campaign trail, with his lack of actual deal-making prowess.

Others suggested the photo shows Cornyn is scared shitless about a potential primary challenge from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, an even bigger Trump toadie.

Meanwhile, X user @GingerBeardGage put his Photoshop skills to good use.

Nuff said.
