You have to give it to folks who built homes 75 or 100 years ago: they had a sense of the grandiose.

A 1945 home now for sale in the Five Points area north of downtown is evidence of that. Despite needing a little repair work, the duplex cuts an imposing figure. The columns out front are fit for a Greek temple and its second-story balcony is, well, pretty darned impressive.

Right now, the home is configured as an Airbnb rental with two separate units, but presumably someone could reconfigure it as a single-family dwelling.

While it’s clear the place needs some refurbishment, there are plenty of fun original details to build on, including hardwood floors, crown molding and a butler’s pantry.
