President Donald Trump will attend Monday night’s game in Madison Square Garden to cheer on the Knicks, according to remarks he made during a press pool in the Oval Office Thursday.

While speaking with reporters, Trump said Knicks Owner James Dolan invited him to the NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden and that he would show up Monday for the first Finals game hosted in New York.

“Well, I’ve been a Knicks fan a long time,” Trump said, contradicting Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s recent AI slopaganda post suggesting the contrary.

However, the president did have positive things to say about one Spur in particular.

“Wemby’s going to be a good player, he’s already a good player. I said how do you guard this guy? He’s 7-foot-5 and he’s got a great shot,” Trump said.

Trump’s attendance might bode well for Los Spurs, given that some Knicks fans believe that the “J.” in Donald J. Trump stands for “Jinx.”

“Nix Trump’s Knicks tix. We don’t need President jinxing our team,” read the headline of a May 31 New York Daily News Opinion piece by reporter Leonard Greene.

“I don’t want President Trump setting foot — his left one, or his right one — in Madison Square Garden over the next couple of weeks because I don’t want him jinxing my team,” he wrote.

Donald Trump isn’t the only political heavyweight expected at the event.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed with sports talk radio station 1010 WINS on Thursday that he would also be in attendance.

“I think we look forward to welcoming any New Yorker who is excited for the Knicks to have that chance to win that championship,” Mamdani stated diplomatically about Trump’s plans.

However, Mamdani added he would be “in a very different section” from the president. Unlike San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones, who was gifted premium third-row tickets by former Spurs outside counsel J. Tullos Wells, Mamdani said he will be closer to the rafters than “celebrity row.”

Political TikTok influencer Hasan Piker also confirmed on his livestream that he plans to attend.

“This will probably be the first time that I have been in the same area, the same space, as the president of the United States Donald Trump,” Piker said.

Piker is one of several sports and political commentators in the zeitgeist predicting that Trump will be booed at Game 3.

“I don’t know why Trump thinks he will get a positive reception in Madison Square Garden, right now, of all times,” Piker added.
