Finally, a Texas politico (or at least the spouse of one) has produced a jam to rival Rick Perry’s hick-hop presidential announcement opus.
Angela Paxton, wife of Attorney General Ken Paxton, performed a song called “Pistol-Packin’ Mama,” at the 25th Anniversary Luncheon of the Golden Corridor Republican Women, a group for North Texas Republicans.
Paxton’s song is actually pretty funny, if you’re framing humor for middle-aged Republican women from the Dallas-Fort Worth suburban sprawl. Here’s video of the performance:
In case you didn’t catch it, the first verse goes:
I’m a pistol-packin’ mama yes I am.
I’m a pistol-packin’ mama yes I am.I’m a pistol-packin’ mama,
and my husband sues Obama
I’m a pistol-packin’ mama yes I am.
Paxton, a guidance counselor at Legacy Christian Academy in Frisco, knew she picked a winner with that “and my husband sues Obama” line. It punctuates each verse of the song. And when you’ve dug up that kind of lyrical gold, why stray from it? The Golden Corridor Republican Women want you to play the hits, not the B-Sides.
“There’s a lot of stuff that rhymes with Obama,” Paxton said mid-tune.
Mysteriously, there wasn’t a verse about her attorney general husband’s pending felony indictments over security fraud. The video is available at Ken Paxton’s official Facebook page.
