LeBron James Wore a Beto O'Rourke Hat Ahead of the Lakers Matchup Against the Spurs

San Antonians may not like LeBron James for leading the Miami Heat to a Game 7 championship against the Spurs in 2013, but he may earn some brownie points with Beto O'Rourke supporters.

James, a known critic of President Donald Trump, has said he would not "stick to basketball" and will use his platform to speak out about political issues. Ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Spurs at the AT&T Center, James was photographed wearing a black and white "Beto for Senate" hat.
This isn't the first time that James has given a nod to O'Rourke. After a clip of the U.S. Senate candidate saying that NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem was not disrespectful went viral, James retweeted the video and added some praise for O'Rourke's "candid thoughtful words."
James is also just one of many celebrities outside of Texas that have taken note of Ted Cruz's opponent. Though they can't vote for him, their support has helped propel O'Rourke into the national spotlight and brought donations to his grassroots campaign.

The Laker is serious enough about using his voice in politics as he is tied to Showtime to produce a documentary series that will explore "the changing role of athletes in our fraught cultural and political environment." The series will be titled "Shut Up and Dribble," which is what Fox News host Laura Ingraham told James criticized Trump for not giving "a fuck about the people."
