After teasing plans last fall, San Antonio’s Alamo Biscuit Co. & Panaderia has expanded to the River Walk.

The restaurant, 849 E Commerce St., is the homegrown chain’s third location, and it’s now serving breakfast, lunch and dinner 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, according to owner John Vale.

The 7,000-square-foot eatery includes seating for up to 250 guests, both inside and on a 1,200-square-foot patio overlooking the San Antonio River. Colorful umbrellas modeled after Mexican concha pastries cover outdoor dining tables, and the restaurant also is expected install a “concha bike” like the one at its flagship Medical Center store for photo ops.

In addition to the biscuit-baked dishes, pan dulce and homemade pastries Alamo Biscuit has become known for, the new dining spot features breakfast tacos, barbacoa, classic Mexican plates and a plant-based menu for vegetarian and vegan diners. Additionally, it boasts a full liquor bar and an espresso bar.

Alamo Biscuit Co. launched its first location, 9630 Huebner Road, in 2019. It’s since added locations in the lobby of Methodist Hospital and the student center at Trinity University. A South Side location in La Picosa shopping center near Brooks also is in the works.
