Fried-chicken and biscuit chain Bojangles will open a second San Antonio restaurant early next year, this one in the city’s Southwest quadrant, state filings show.

The Charlotte, North Carolina-based brand will spend $4.1 million developing the freestanding store at 3003 SW Military Drive near South San Antonio High School, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Construction on the 57-seat dining spot will begin in September and conclude next February.

Company officials were unavailable Tuesday for immediate comment on plans for the restaurant.

Bojangles opened its first San Antonio unit in July 2023 at 8730 Potranco Road, near the thoroughfare’s busy intersection with Highway 151. That launch came a couple years after the chain announced a major Texas expansion expected to include 50 outlets across San Antonio, Austin, Houston and the Dallas-Forth Worth Metroplex.

Founded in 1977, Bojangles operates more than 800 restaurants spread across 17 states. It’s known for chicken sandwiches, tenders and breakfast-biscuit combos.
