An H-E-B in Northwest San Antonio is about to get a major facelift, a state filing shows.

The Alamo City-based grocery chain will pour $3.4 million into upgrades for its supermarket at 9225 Grissom Road. Though the filing doesn’t describe the renovations in detail, it notes that the project is a complete remodel of the store’s 74,459-square-foot interior.

The store in San Antonio’s Great Northwest neighborhood was built in 1987, according to the Bexar County Appraisal District. Its location is adjacent Culebra Road and a Walmart Supercenter near Timberwilde Elementary School.

The project is one of many revamps and expansions underway at H-E-B. Many of the chain’s recent renovations have entailed adding locations of its popular True Texas BBQ restaurants to existing supermarkets.

As another recent update, the grocer now offers Apple Pay and other tap-to-pay options chain-wide.
