Juvenile District Court Judge William “Cruz” Shaw ruled Thursday that the 13-year-old San Antonio boy charged with terrorism over allegations he planned to carry out a mass shooting at Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School will remain in police custody, according to the Express-News.
The ruling comes after the youth’s mother, Ashley Pardo, 33, was released on $75,000 bond last week. Police charged her with aiding in the commission of terrorism.
As part of Pardo’s bond conditions, she is barred from having contact with the boy and from possessing guns and incendiary devices. She’ll also be tested weekly for drugs and alcohol.
Authorities arrested Pardo’s son May 12 after his grandmother – with whom the boy sometimes stayed – told police she had found loaded guns, ammunition and tactical gear in her home, according to arrest documents.
After being detained by police, the boy, who had shown prior interest in mass shootings, told police that his mother had bought him the magazines and tactical gear in exchange for babysitting his younger siblings, documents also indicate.
