Considered one of screen legend Mary Pickford’s best films, Sparrows (1926), set to screen Thursday at Villa Finale Museum & Gardens, is a silent movie about a young woman who rescues kidnapped children from a baby farm.
Pickford, America’s sweetheart of the silent era, was the most powerful woman in Hollywood at the time. She produced and starred in this Dickensian drama, in which she plays a young captive living in squalor and subjected to forced labor.
Preceded by a short biographical presentation about Pickford, the free screening of this cinema classic will be followed by Silent Expressions, an activity in which the audience is invited to act out scenes from their favorite silent films.
