In case anyone’s wondering what happened to the publicity hound who darted onto the court during Game 1 of the NBA Finals to snap a selfie with Victor Wembanyama, he now faces a lifetime ban from NBA arenas plus criminal charges, KSAT reports.
A league spokesperson told the TV station that security whisked the juvenile suspect off the court, adding that he will never set foot into another league arena. Fans who disrupt NBA games face not just ejection but charges such as criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, according to the league’s Fan Code of Conduct.
And the threat is apparently real. A Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson told KSAT the youth now faces charges of criminal trespass along with disrupting a meeting or procession. BCSO officials didn’t name the suspect because he’s under 18.
Since online chatter among hoops fans suggests many think the disruption cost San Antonio possession of the ball during a decisive game moment, the suspect also may face serious charges in the unofficial but notoriously unforgiving court of Spurs fandom.
