Stand-up comedian Jo Koy, ho performs this Saturday at Frost Bank Center, has never phased out of hustle mode.
Since packing rooms at San Antonio’s Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club back in 2017, the Filipino American comic has climbed to arena stages, become a six-time Netflix special veteran and hosted The Koy Pond podcast.
Along the way, he’s acted, lent his voice to animated films, picked up Stand-Up Comedian of the Year honors at the 2018 Just for Laughs Festival and even took a swing at hosting the 81st Golden Globe Awards. That last one may have been more miss than hit, but he’s out to prove he’ll try anything — once.
Koy’s relentless, high-octane delivery is contagious, and no matter how many stages he graces, he keeps circling back to the family stories that made him famous — whether talking about his Filipino mom or his son’s personal habits.
