San Antonio’s Crepeccino Café and Crêperie will expand by two more locations in coming months, according to its owner.

The homegrown business’ second store will be located at 813 Cibolo Valley Drive in the northeastern suburb of Cibolo, according to construction plans filed with Texas regulators. It’s expected to open early next spring.

The third location is in the planning stages at Shaenfield Road off Loop 1604, between Culebra and Bandera roads, owner Bara Echlayal told the Current. Construction on that unit will begin in April.

The new stores will join Crepeccino’s flagship operation at 5500 Babcock, Suite 104, near the Medical Center.

Echlayal says he picked Cibolo for the second location after noticing many return customers at the Babcock store hailed from the bedroom community. Some asked for a store closer to home.

“It’s a blossoming area,” Echlayal said, adding that he noticed a lack of competition from similar businesses.

Construction is already underway at the Cibolo location, according to Echlayal. The business expects to spend $550,000 renovating the store’s existing 4,755-square-foot space, regulatory filings show.

Opened in 2018, Creppecino made a name for itself serving up freshly ground coffee along with gelato and made-to-order sweet and savory crêpes. In addition to its breakfast menu, which also includes omelettes and waffles, the eatery offers lunch and dinner options ranging from sandwiches to chicken Diane and spaghetti carbonara.

During the pandemic, the crêperie used the downtime to renovate its Babcock location. Those upgrades now allow customers to watch their crêpes being made in the open kitchen.

The new locations will be set up with the same open design, Echlayal said. The menu also will be the same. Subscribe to SA Current newsletters.
