Just after revealing the impending closure of The Squeezebox, his flagship drinkery, San Antonio native Aaron Peña has joined up with the minds behind popular nightspot Bar Loretta to bring two new bars to Southtown.
Gimme Gimme and A Perfect Day, both located in the space previously occupied by gastropub Francis Bogside, offer a yin and yang approach to local nightlife.
Cocktail lounge Gimme Gimme boasts leather booth seating and a color scheme relying heavily on black and red. In contrast, wine bar A Perfect Day boasts a lighter, more elegant feel. A larger-than-life Debbie Harry mural watches over the latter space “just for the hell of it,” co-operator Roger Herr told the Current.
During Sunday’s family-and-friends preview, the Current snapped photos of both the “dark, loud, sexy” vibes at Gimme Gimme — as well as the easygoing A Perfect Day.
Both new bars will open August 1.
