Following the January closure of chef Steve McHugh’s longtime Pearl staple Cured, a new concept is already set to take its place.
A new project dubbed “Yosemite” is set to take over the space, state regulatory filings show. The project has been deemed a renovation in Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation paperwork, so that means Cured’s distinctive exterior facade will remain largely untouched. However, the reported $1.5 million scope of the project suggests much will change inside.
The mysterious Yosemite is owned by Rio Perla Properties — the real estate affiliate of San Antonio-based Silver Ventures, the equity firm behind most of the Pearl Brewery’s modern developments. The Current reached out to a Silver Ventures representative for comment and received no additional details as of press time.
While the TDLR filing doesn’t explicitly state Yosemite is a restaurant, it’s safe to presume that’s what to expect from the latest Pearl development, given the building’s use as one for more than a decade.
The new project is among a growing list of new concepts coming to the north-of-downtown dining and retail hub.
Those include a new project from Houston-based restaurateur Aaron Bludhorn in the former Carriqui space and LoverBoy House Eats, a new project from the team behind Box Street All Day. Chef John Brand has also taken over as the executive chef of the Hotel Emma, including its signature restaurant Supper.
