Irving, Texas-based fast-casual pan-Asian restaurant chain Pei Wei has quietly closed the doors of its location at The Strand at Huebner Oaks, MySA reports.

A sign on the door says, “This location has closed,” according to the online news site. Further, the store at 1267 Huebner Road is no longer listed on the chain’s website. In its Saturday report, MySA said Google listed the location as “permanently closed.” As of a Monday morning check by the Current, the listing no longer exists at all.

However, Pei Wei still has five locations in the Alamo City. Those include one on Basse Road in Lincoln Heights, another on Loop 1604 North, another on Highway 151 on the far West Side and two in Northwest San Antonio. One of the two Northwest stores, located in Culebra Village, just opened a couple weeks ago. The chain has more than 120 units nationwide, primarily concentrated in the South. Pei Wei officials didn’t give a reason for shutting its restaurant in The Strand, according to MySA. However, the move follows a succession of local closures as recession looms and consumers tighten belts to weather it. Recent closures include long-running Phoenix Chinese Cafe and a location of Bunz Handcrafted Burgers. Subscribe to SA Current newsletters.
