Mr. Teriyaki, a homegrown chain known for affordable, approachable Japanese cuisine, is cooking up plans for a third location.
Construction is slated to begin this summer for a new Mr. Teriyaki at 12922 Potranco Road, #134, state regulatory filings show. The restaurant has a tentative November completion date, according to its filing.
“Get ready for sizzling teriyaki by end of 2025,” the chain said in a Thursday Instagram post teasing the new far West Side location.
The Current reached out to Mr. Teriyaki’s owners for more details about the new store but got no response by press time.
Currently operating with two locations — 6824 San Pedro Ave. and 8603 TX-151, #109 — Mr. Teriyaki serves up its grilled namesake dish alongside Japanese classics such as bento boxes, sushi rolls and more. The menu also includes appetizers, such as egg rolls, gyoza, edamame and more.
Although the family-owned restaurant is known for its affordability — $9.25 for chicken fried rice and $14.95 for a combination bento box featuring chicken, beef and shrimp, for example — it prides itself serving only fresh-to-order dishes, according to its website.
Mr. Teriyaki made its San Antonio debut in 2023 with the opening of its San Pedro Avenue restaurant near North Star Mall. It launched the Westover Hills location on Texas Highway 151 late last summer.
