After making the U.S. debut of its combined IHOP-Applebee’s restaurant concept last month in Seguin, Dine Brands Global is already preparing to open another one — this time in San Antonio proper.

The California-based restaurant group will spend $1.2 million to build its second area IHOP-Applebee’s on the 2000 block of Loop 1604 at Marbach Road, state regulatory filings show. Construction will begin in June and complete next March, according to the company’s filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

California-based Dine Brands is rolling out the dual-concept restaurants because they generate more sales than its individually branded ones. CEO John Peyton told investors late last year that the IHOP-Applebee’s stores in Canada, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates pull in “approximately 1.5 times to 2 times the revenue” of its conventional units.

Dine Brands wants to open 12 to 15 of the combo restaurants this year, Peyton told Nation’s Restaurant News. Those locations could grow into the hundreds, he added.

The dual IHOP-Applebee’s stores offer menu items from both brands along with a limited number of dishes that combine elements from the two, including a Loaded Buffalo Chicken Omelette and a Sirloin Steak & Eggs Combo, according to Nation’s Restaurant News.
