LA hardcore-punk pioneers Circle Jerks will celebrate 45 years of Group Sex — the group’s 1980 debut album — with a Saturday, Oct. 18, show at Paper Tiger.

The package tour also includes two other legendary early-’80s punk acts — fellow SoCal punks The Adolescents and Detroit’s punishing Negative Approach.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday via the Paper Tiger website. The venue hasn’t yet shared prices.

Things are bound to get political at the show thanks to outspoken Circle Jerks frontman Keith Morris, who’s also a founding member and frontman of Black Flag. Recently, Morris generated national headlines calling for an “army of Luigis” at Coachella, referring to Luigi Mangione, the alleged assassin of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Morris formed Black Flag in 1976 with guitarist Greg Ginn, who remains as that band’s sole founding member. Morris appeared Black Flag’s debut EP “Nervous Breakdown” before leaving to form Circle Jerks in 1979.

The singer originally wrote four of the songs on Circle Jerks’ Group Sex for Black Flag before departing. Those include “Wasted,” “Don’t Care,” “Behind the Door” and “Red Tape.”

Circle Jerks rose to national prominence as ambassadors of the LA punk scene thanks in part to their inclusion in the landmark documentary The Decline of Western Civilization, directed by Wayne’s World filmmaker Penelope Spheeris.

Morris also serves as frontman for LA hardcore supergroup OFF! Throughout his musical career, he’s continued to be one of the scene’s most outspoken political forces.

The Adolescents also aren’t known to shy from political commentary, judging from the cover of the group’s 2018 album, Cropduster, which features an image of President Donald Trump walking by a group of people while farting. We doubt the band’s opinion of our dear leader has improved since his first term, given that his approval rating is currently the worst of any president in 80 years.

But since he’s not going anywhere, time to get out some angst with Group Sex in the pit.

Ticket prices unavailable, 7. p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, Paper Tiger, 2410 N. St. Mary’s St., papertigersatx.com.
