Country Music Hall of Famer George Strait got a little assist on the star power during his Sunday night benefit concert to help those affected by the devastating Central Texas floods.
While Strait, a San Antonio native, has plenty of fans of his own, it certainly didn’t hurt that the boost in question came from Garth Brooks, a fellow Hall of Fame member who sold out six consecutive shows at the Alamodome back in 1998, Billboard reports.
The superstars joined in for a rendition of “The Fireman” as a tribute to the first responders who helped out after the disaster, according to the publication.
Brooks wasn’t among the guest artists announced for Strait’s sold out benefit dinner and show at Boerne’s Estancia at Thunder Valley. The other performers who were featured in the billing included William Beckmann, Ray Benson, Wade Bowen, Dean Dillon, Riley Green, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Kyle Park and Hudson Westbrook.
The concert raised at least $6.25 million for the Strait-affiliated nonprofit Vaqueros Del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund to distribute to families directly affected by the floods, according to Billboard.
