A fire sparked Monday afternoon in Big Bend National Park continues burning and causing heavy smoke.

The National Park Service is calling it the Powerline Fire. The park service said that as of Tuesday afternoon, the fire had grown to 1,995 acres.

Authorities said that additional resources are expected to arrive today to continue maintaining fire breaks and to work to suppress the fire, which was started by a downed powerline on Monday afternoon.
