Early voting got underway Monday, and there’s a lot on the line this election cycle, from the local to the national level.
In addition to voting for president and deciding the fate of incumbent U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, San Antonio voters will decide the fate of a half-dozen changes to the city charter. As of 11:15 a.m. Monday, more than 13,000 voters here have cast ballots, according to the Bexar County Elections Department.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. As long as you’re in line by 7 p.m., election workers must let you vote.
What we are voting on
In addition to the presidential ticket and one of Texas’ two senate seats, San Antonio voters will be voting for or against charter changes including the hotly debated Prop C, which would increase the city manager’s tenure and compensation.
Voters also will cast ballots for positions on the Texas Supreme Court, the Criminal Court of Appeals, the Texas Railroad Commission and State Board of Education.
