An 11-year-old student is facing criminal charges after bringing a gun to a San Antonio school campus this week, MySA reports.

Authorities at Bernard A. Harris Middle School apprehended the suspect Wednesday after another student informed campus officials that someone had a firearm in their backpack, according to the online news site. When questioned, the child reportedly said he was holding the gun for someone else and didn’t intend to harm anyone.

Even so, North East Independent School District said in a statement that firearms are prohibited on campus and the youth who reported the weapon did the right thing.

The incident comes a little over a week after authorities arrested a 13-year-old student at SAISD’s Rhodes Middle on allegations he planned to carry out a mass shooting.

A judge ruled Thursday that the boy, who’s charged with terrorism, must remain in custody while awaiting trial. Meanwhile, the youth’s mother, Ashley Pardo, is out on a $75,000 bond on charges of aiding in the commission of terrorism.
