San Antonio Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez, known for his sometimes-spicy social media posts, reportedly faces a formal ethics complaint over one of his recent online exchanges.

On Thursday, San Antonio’s Ethics Review Board voted to request that the District 2 councilman provide an additional written response to a constituent’s formal complaint that he may have exposed her private email address to thousands of people, reports KSAT. The board will consider McKee-Rodriguez’s response as the members weigh how to respond.

San Antonio resident Juan Rider Mireles II filed the complaint against McKee-Rodriguez in June, arguing the councilman misused city resources and violated the its ethics code by posting Mireles’ email address online for the world to see, according to the TV station.

The exchange occurred after McKee-Rodriguez responded to resident Trisha Thatcher-Garza, who called him a “monkey” on his Facebook page as previously reported by the Current. The councilman accused Thatcher-Garza of directing racially charged language against him.

In response to the remark, McKee-Rodriguez reportedly posted three images to his Facebook, including a screenshot that included Thatcher-Garza’s personal email address.

The complaint obtained by KSAT also alleges that McKee-Rodriguez used official council channels to obtain Thatcher-Garza’s email address. However, it’s unclear what the relationship is between Thatcher-Garza and complainant Mireles.

McKee-Rodriguez publicly apologized to Thatcher-Garza in June, and reportedly took a Texas Public Information Act training last month. KSAT reports that the councilman also submitted a response to the Ethics Review Board and acknowledged he should have redacted her email address from his social media post.
