Just two weeks after the Michelin dining guide recognized multiple San Antonio restaurants for their quality and service,Travel + Leisure magazine has named the Alamo City to its list of 50 Best Places to Visit in 2025.
Travel + Leisure staff vetted 120 locations based on factors such as which are trending and which qualify as overlooked gems. From there, writers split the 50 best into seven categories, including Big City Thrills, Cultural Immersion, Adventure and Food and Drinks.
San Antonio, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, landed in the Food and Drink category alongside far-flung destinations such as Crete, Greece; Osaka, Japan; and Priorat, Spain.
According to Travel + Leisure, San Antonio has long been “on the cutting edge of culinary innovation.” Favorite local eateries including Best Quality Daughter, Curry Boys BBQ, Mixtli and La Panadería all got shoutouts from the travel mag.
The publication also recognized Chef Jason Dady’s soon-to-open Mexico Ceaty as a potential culinary highlight. That destination, a 40,000-square-foot overhaul of the Shops at Rivercenter food court, will feature a variety of Mexican cuisines under one roof.
San Antonio was one of just 13 U.S. travel destinations to make the list, which appears in the Travel + Leisure issue that dropped last week.
It’s not the first time SA’s drawn raves from Travel + Leisure. In July, the magazine named the city as the sixth-best U.S. travel destination on its annual World’s Best list.
