Pacific Northwest-based Killer Burger made its Texas debut Monday with the opening of a location in Far West San Antonio.

The regional chain’s location at 12834 Potranco Road, just south of Alamo Ranch, isn’t just its first in the Lone Star State but its first outside the Pacific Northwest. Most of its 24 stores are clustered in and around the Portland, Oregon area.

The Alamo City restaurant will be owned by company founder and franchisee Thomas “TJ” Southard, officials said last month when announcing the expansion plan.

The Killer Burger chain is known for topping its sandos with high-quality and creative ingredients. Among its best-known creations is the Peanut Butter Pickle Bacon Burger, a combination that sounds daft but gets rave reviews on Google and Yelp.

Though the extensive burger menu is clearly the star of the show, the chain also offers chicken sandwiches and a chicken tender basket. Vegetarians also have a meatless burger option, and those with special diets have a gluten-free bun and a lettuce wrap to choose from.

Killer Burger’s hours are 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
