New tiki-inspired cocktail bar Sunnyside Lounge has opened in the former space of shuttered Balcones Heights watering hole The Texan Icehouse.
The indoor-outdoor nightspot quietly opened March 2, offering a “dimly lit yet vibrant ambience” along with happy hour discounts, according to recent social media posts from its owners.
The Texan, 4518 West Ave., known for its lively happy hours and strong service-industry patronage, shut down last April. It had been in operation since 2013.
Sunnyside Lounge is open 5 p.m.-1 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
