Straight from the rugged lands of Shaolin, legendary rap group Wu-Tang Clan has unveiled details of its final tour, which will include several Texas shows in June.
Sadly, those stops won’t include San Antonio. However, the group will perform in Austin, Houston and Fort Worth, leaving plenty of options for those willing to make the drive.
The collective’s “Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber” tour will kick off June 6 in Baltimore with formidable rap duo Run the Jewels tagging along for the first leg, including the Lone Star State.
The group will touch down in Texas for performances in Fort Worth on Friday, June 13; Houston on Saturday, June 14; and Austin on Sunday, June 15. Tickets for Austin’s Moody Center and Houston Toyota Center go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28.
While cash rules everything around us, ticket prices for these shows aren’t yet available.
The tour will feature “all of the surviving members of Wu-Tang Clan — RZA, GZA, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa and Cappadonna — along with Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s son Young Dirty Bastard,” according to a New York Times report.
The road dates also “will celebrate the depth and breadth of the iconic group’s deep catalogue. In addition to their top tracks from their debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), according to tour promo details. “Fans can expect to hear songs that have never been performed live, deep cuts” and tracks from “the group’s Grammy-nominated and highest-selling second album Wu-Tang Forever, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified four-times platinum.” The Final Chamber tour comes 33 years after the influential hip-hop collective came together in Staten Island, or “Shaolin Land,” as the members called it.
“This is a special moment for me and all my Wu brothers to run around the globe together one more time and spread the Wu swag, music and culture,” RZA said in a statement reported by Pitchfork. “Most importantly, to touch our fans and those who have supported us throughout the years. On this tour, we’re playing songs we’ve never played before to our audience, and me and our production team have designed a Wu-Tang show unlike anything you’ve ever seen. And to top it off we’ve got the amazing Run the Jewels on our side.”
We’re assuming it’s an all ages show, since Wu-Tang is for the children.
