Less than a month after being the first Spanish-language act nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, pioneering Mexican band Maná revealed it will perform back-to-back San Antonio shows this fall.
The Grammy-winning group — beloved for its infectious pop-rock sound and socially conscious lyrics — will play Frost Bank Center on Friday, Sept. 5, and Saturday, Sept. 6, as part of the 21-city jaunt. The Vivir Sin Aire Tour, named for one of Maná’s signature songs, will feature “unforgettable” production elements and a setlist full of classic material, according to the group.
General tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, March 14, via Frost Bank Center and Ticketmaster.
Formed in Guadalajara in the late 1980s, Maná has released 11 albums with combined sales of 45 million copies. In addition to being considered the biggest-selling Latin touring act of all time, the band has landed more songs — 33 to be exact — on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs list than any other rock ensemble.
A portion of ticket sales will help Maná’s establish the Latinas Luchonas program in honor of Rosario Sierra, the late mother of vocalist Fher Olvera. Operated in partnership with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, the initiative will empower Latina entrepreneurs through scholarships, mentorship and leadership opportunities, according to the group.
Ticket prices unavailable, start time unavailable, Friday, Sept. 5, and Saturday, Sept. 6, Frost Bank Center, 1 Frost Bank Center Drive, (210) 444-5140, frostbankcenter.com.
