The Texas Department of Transportation will pause all of its major roadwork projects in San Antonio over Memorial Day weekend, officials with the state agency said Thursday.

In anticipation of heightened traffic during the long holiday weekend, TxDOT won’t make any major lane or road closures along Interstates 10 or 35 or on Loop 1604 — all of which have experienced delays due to ongoing highway projects.

TxDOT officials said the temporary pause in roadwork will run from 9 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorial Day is among the busiest weekends for travel with nearly 40 million Americans expected to hit the roads, according to AAA projections.
