Country singer George Strait is closing his San Antonio Rose Palace and seeking a buyer for the equine event center.
George Strait, San Antonio's best-known country music export, is shutting down the San Antonio Rose Palace, a rodeo and "Western lifestyle events" venue near Boerne that he's owned since 1998.

The facility's current manager, RP3 Management, made the announcement on its Facebook page. "We are told the property will be listed for sale and had to cancel all future shows for 2018 and beyond," the post said.

The George Strait Team Roping Classic was the venue's marquis event, attracting around 2,400 rodeo and country music fans annually, according to its website.

The Palace, located at 25665 Boerne Stage Road, is located in a cluster of other equine facilities and includes a pair of covered arenas, two more lighted indoor arenas, stables and a clubhouse spread across 70 acres. It opened during the '70s.

The Facebook post did not list a sale price or discuss why Strait is closing the venue. No one was available for immediate comment at the San Antonio Rose Palace.
